Directions

From the hike starting point you see the Rüfikopfbahn cable car to your left. Take the cable car up the (1) Rüfikopf (2,350 m). When you have passed the top station of the Rüfikopfbahn cable car, turn right and follow the sign-posted path through the amazing (2) ”Rüfikopf Plateau” until you reach a wider path that will take you to the (3) Monzabonsee Lake. Here, follow the sign-posted path to your left going uphill to the pass. Then keep going uphill for a short stretch until you reach a wide alpine path. Turn right and follow the path back to the starting point.

Suggestions

Special features: On this hike, you will find the Geoweg logo (a mollusc) at each geological site of interest, along with a number and a capital letter for identification.

The accompanying brochure is available at the Lech Zürs Tourist Office and from the valley and summit stations of the Rüfikopf cable car. It costs € 5.–.

Sights: ”Stone witnesses” – the sites of interest along the Geoweg adhere to the chronology of the history of the Earth as far as possible. In addition to a range of rock strata, a number of fossils can also be admired.

Refreshment stops: Panorama restaurant Rüfikopf and restaurants in Lech am Arlberg.

Public transport

By train to Langen am Arlberg station or St. Anton am Arlberg. From there, buses (No. 750+760) run regularly to Lech Zürs am Arlberg.
